This is The End is the first of a few summer comedy's to be released in the next couple of months and it does so with the best of form and some would say setting the standard.This is The End is quite obviously an ensemble of the best of what comedy movies in recent years have to offer featuring the likes of:Seth Rogan,James Franco,Jonah Hill,Michael Sera,Danny Mcbride,and Evan Goldberg.
The story written out for this movie is a very clever and at the same time not too complicated tale as there obviously needs to be a reason for all of theses actors to meet up at some point,which then enables the true plot of the movie to commence there after.All of the actors in this film are playing themselves as they would do in real life which gives a brilliant and original aesthetic to the film as each actor plays off each other very well just as you would expect them to do outside of filming.The addition of Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg directing this film shows through in the humor and in the whole way the film plays out as the contrasting humor from other similar movies is used to great effect.
The setup contained in the second half of this film plays very well against the characters as if your familiar with any of the actors other works such as,get him to the Greek,superbad or pineapple express you will know there not the best of people which is why the story of redemption and forgiveness plays very well with there own persona in the movie. In terms of the comedy genre this is easily one of the best I have seen but on one hand but it does slightly bend towards a certain audience,fans of superbad and other movies mentioned above will have no problem at all enjoying this movie in all its glory as the humor is very much the same.On the other hand its not a movie suggested for minors obviously as its a 15 rating but the humor is adult directed with references to (A LOT OF DRUGS),sex and a little racism,most of this humor is harmless and done very well and is usually more dialogue than action as well so younger audiences may not be so interested.
